Behind the Book with Emma Healey

Saturday 15 February 2025, 10am to 1pm

Go behind the scenes of Sweat, the chilling and thought-provoking new novel from Emma Healey, the multi-million copy bestselling author of Elizabeth is Missing and Whistle in the Dark.

Emma is a master of crafting deep, rich prose which often tackles harder-hitting subjects. In this exclusive session, she will lift the curtain on the process behind writing Sweat, a ‘taut, compulsive, and unsettling’ (Jennie Godfrey) thriller about physical and psychological power, revenge, self-discipline, and what happens when someone decides to fight for control.

After an initial presentation, Emma will lead you through a series of writing exercises, and by the end of the session, you will have written a spellbinding scene that will leave your readers wanting more.

There will be a break in the middle of the event, with cake and hot drinks provided. There’s also the opportunity to ask Emma your questions about writing, with time at the end for book signing.

  • Location: National Centre for Writing, Dragon Hall, 115-123 King St, Norwich NR1 1QE
